I am having the joy to collaborate with Caroline Ribbers, that her doctoral studies are on how somatic movement and self-learning are linked to one another.

Hi Olga

Thanks for talking yesterday, I'm really inspired by the idea of you playing with some ideas related to somatic self-learning.

I have compiled a first version with some contextual information and 2 tools/frames. I have included a question related to each tool, to hopefully get your thinking going. There's a lot more to come, I will keep adding ideas to the document and send you new versions of it.

Just a first step, to get us going, I hope it makes sense.

I will email you on Monday my schedule.

Have a good weekend.

Caroline

TOOLKIT 3

Hi Olga,

Inspired by our conversation I have reworked the toolkit. In this 3rd version more information about the learning proces and how one could possibly connect the different dots in such a learning process.

Although I am trying to keep it simple, the info might be confusing. I have so much information that I find it challenging to keep it simple and understandable. In the tools you can also find hints to 'sensing'.

Therefore....I think it makes sense for you to stay with the connecting phase the coming time by.....sensing....and to capture what you sense. To capture this I always sit down after a practice and try to go back to the beginning of the practice and write down what comes to the foreground. I write in the I-form and this is a short descriptions of last weeks teaching practice:

I walk into the room and scan the space, a peripheral view guides my action,  I notice the students lying on the yoga mats already, some with closed eyes, some covered with a blanket, I bring the awareness to my feet, and walk towards the music installation, I question how rooted I am, how my feet are connected to the floor or not. I try to send my inhalation to the heel bone......

Oftentimes, by making these kind of sensory descriptions, new information is revealed, information that I was unaware of. It is not  that I always immediately do something with this information. They help me to connect to myself as a learner, to simply explore what is at hand, how I learn, how I practice, without 'fixing' myself immediately. I trust that things will unfold or revealed whenever one is ready.

So....I hope you enjoy staying in this state of connecting / arriving to discover yourself with patience and trust.

I will not work next week because of fall holiday and be back to work the 29th of October. And we will definitely speak the 1st of November. Looking forward to it, really!?

Warm greetings,

Caroline
