The chosen concept was temporalities and the connection with the concept of physical action in different scopes of place and time, in an open space from nοn-professional performers, in this case refugees.
The ideas of the concept are the parallel presents, refugees, home and values. The goal was to raise the question of how values like dignity and solidarity are challenged by the current social reality.
As a theoretical reference point the works of Yvon Rainer and Trisha Brown were used. Moreover somatics were used as the connection link between the everyday actions and the creation of the kinetic language.

We strategically "talked" through our movements and actions about the values that are being tarnished when a refugee is losing their home. These movements/actions were inspired by these refugees that reside at the place were the choreography was performed.
Even though I had to adapt at the TEDx standards, I managed to maintain the subject and the style. I was very sensible of the particularity of the organization and the place, and I was extremely efficient and always considerate. I brought my own projector, the musicians only asked for a microphone and I rehearsed on the place of the performance only once. I tried my best and I succeeded in being inspiring to the dancers, the musicians and the TEDx partners.
During rehearsals we studied the actions of the refugees, and got inspired by them for the creation of the movement. The musicians were continuously improvising until they got the results they wanted.
I got goosebumps and a warm feeling seeing the sentimental power of the dancers' actions. The collaboration with them was very good, regardless of the problems we faced due to the unflexible environment of a TEDx event.
Through this experience I learned how to trust the power of actions. Every action that has honest intentions has such a deep effect. There is no need to explain every movement our body does, we just need to let it happen.
The opportunity I had to collaborate with so many different people made me start thinking for my next step. A new world was opened for me, a world were the movement is initiated by simple everyday actions. The open space dynamic had a very big impact at the dramaturgy of the kinetic creation. It's extremely important to learn how to trust the circumstances in which I have to create.
The only thing that I wish was better was organizational matters, that next time I will make sure to clarify from the early stages of the collaboration.
